Course Synopsis

Niton's unique award for Managing Conflict for Enforcement Personnel is accredited by the Northern Council for Further Education (NCFE) to make a unique offering that provides employers and their staff, insurers and customers with confidence in this area of significant risk.

Enforcement personnel in the UK are increasingly carrying out a law enforcement function and may be required to use force and exercise powers of arrest both as citizens (security & enforcement officers) and as Crown Servants (Fisheries Officers and Court Bailiffs). Recent case law has shown that a lack of credible training in law enforcement and security sector leaves staff, service users and employers at risk of harm, prosecution and substantial compensation claims.

This award will assist various enforcement personnel by helping them identify conflict and give them the verbal skills and tactics to defuse conflict situations. In cases where this fails and the lawful use of force is an option or a lawful arrest is required, they can apply court defensible tactical communication, physical control or defensive weapons skills in a safe and approved manner.

There are no formal qualifications in this area at present other than low level non pain compliance skills based upon team participation. These are not suitable for officers working alone exercising an enforcement role or power of arrest. Our Skills are based around US and UK Civil Police techniques. They can be mapped to existing techniques used by the civil police and are Court credible.

Our accredited programme ensures employers and their staff benefit from an advanced level of training that is recognised for law enforcement and specialist security functions. The programme can be delivered specifically to your requirements in house, or at the location of your choice, by our own accredited and vastly experienced trainers.
