The complexities of the legal system continue to increase and the
cost of obtaining expert advice on legal matters has risen to levels
often beyond the reach of some members. Also the inability to secure
immediate legal advice can sometimes place members at a disadvantage
when confronted by problems that have legal implications and may
result in legal proceedings. Recognising these problems the Association
in 1994 introduced access to a comprehensive legal advisory service
as an automatic benefit to all members.
The scheme is provided by FirstAssist - one of the UK's market
leaders in the provision of telephone advisory services. The FirstAssist
Group is committed to providing products and services of the highest
quality.
IPSA LAWCARE ADVISORY SERVICE
FirstAssist's LawCare Advisory Service enables members to seek
telephone legal advice 24 hours a day, 365 days per year on any
private legal matter. The service provides unlimited
around the clock access to CareAssist's team of legal consultants,
who are skilled in providing friendly, practical and concise legal
advice at the initial enquiry stage. A significant feature of the
service is it is immediate response to enquiries. The service is
limited to intial advice and does not extend to handling the whole
legal case on behalf of the enquiring member.
To gain access to the service you simply need to telephone the
number on your IPSA membership card and quote the Association's
scheme number also shown on the card. You will then be advised of
the appropriate legal steps to take to resolve your problem. In
2004 around 100 enquiries were made of the service by members seeking
assistance with a wide range of both personal and work related issues.
The International Professional Security Association firmly believes
that the scheme provides significant benefits in the area of legal
protection and all members are urged to utilise the LawCare Advisory
Service to gain first hand assistance towards resolving any problem
with legal implications.
